IMMIGRATION FROM CHINA
We have just received your telno 69 and are most grateful for your support in impressing on the Chinese the need to see a rapid reduction in the immigration figures, I shall be making a point over the next 3 weeks of giving regular figures to the NCNA and if there are any significant changes in the pattern we shall certainly send these by telegram. It would be extremely helpful if you could impress on the MFA that we will be looking at this month's figures as a measure of the confidence that we can justifiably feel in their ability to take the measures which they so often tell us they are doing.
