FIRST SPECIAL REPORT
The Select Committee appointed to review policies, but not individual cases, in relation to-
(a) the operation of the Race Relations Act 1976 with particular reference
to the work of the Commission for Racial Equality; and
(b) the admission into the United Kingdom of Commonwealth citizens and
foreign nationals for settlement,
have agreed to the following Special Report:-
SUBJECTS OF INQUIRIES
1. We are now concluding our inquiries into the effect of the United Kingdom's membership of the EEC on race relations and immigration, and will soon report.
2. We propose to conduct a brief inquiry into those aspects of the immigration rules, and their administration, that are currently causing concern. We invite interested bodies and persons to submit memoranda to us on this matter as quickly as possible.
3. Our next full inquiry will be into the Chinese community in the United Kingdom. We invite interested bodies and persons to submit memoranda on this matter.
4. Memoranda should be sent to the Clerk to the Select Committee on Race Relations and Immigration, Committee Office, House of Commons, London SWIA OAA.
