Provisions will be needed similar to those for British

Citizenship for British Overseas Citizenship to be lost by

deprivation or renunciation.

SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS

26.

It is recommended that the permanent provisions should

be as follows:-

a) Any person born in a dependency after the coming

into force of the Act shall be a British Overseas

Citizen by birth, unless either of the following

exceptions applies:

(i) that his father enjoys diplomatic status and

is not himself a British Overseas Citizen by

connection with that dependency; or

(ii) that his father is a citizen of a country

with which Her Majesty is at war and the birth

occurs in a place occupied by the enemy.

b) Any minor child who is adopted by Order of a Court

in a dependency and one of the parents is a British Overseas

Citizen by virtue of a connection with that dependency

shall be deemed to have the status of a British Overseas

Citizen by birth in that dependency, as from the date

of the adoption.

c) The child of a father who is a British Overseas
