Many Vietnamese Chinese resettled in various provinces of China, of whom there are some 250,000, may try to make their way to Hong Kong because of dissatisfaction with the low standard of life in China and the hope of resettlement overseas. Whether they succeed in leaving China will depend what China is prepared to do. Chinese IIs are likely to try to join these attempted escapes as a means of leaving China.
