In the field of social welfare PMI has started milk feeding for the vulnerable groups. It has been decided that at a later stage, Save the Children, under PMI, will begin a special feeding programme for the children. The same organisation will also look into the question of schooling in the camps.

Tracing and Mailing

Tracing and mailing services have been established in both Jakarta and Tanjung Pinang. From the Catholic Church in Tanjung Pinang, which is highly experienced in the field of mailing, the service is now slowly being taken over by PMI under ICRC supervision.

a) Tracing

Since August 1979, some 26,400 names have been filed. 613 requests were received, 150 have been processed.

b) Mailing

This service has still to be organised as presently any one going to the camps brings back letters to be mailed, creating, at times, a backlog. A system is to be established whereby 2 letters per family per month will be processed and mailed. A total of 71,551 pieces of mail have been re- ceived or sent for the Vietnamese Boat Feople.
