I enclose a copy of a letter to the Prime Minister from the General Secretary of the British Council of Churches together with a copy of a statement enclosed with that letter.

I should be grateful if you could arrange for a reply to be sent to the Reverend Morton's letter on the Prime Minister's behalf and for a copy to be sent to us here at No.10 for our records. You may wish to take into account in your reply the fact that the question of establishing a permanent selection team in Hong Kong (paragraph 2. (a) of the enclosure) was raised by a BCC delegation with the Prime Minister earlier today. The Prime Minister said that this was something that could be looked into.
