over the telephone tomorrow or on Monday of next week. Some of the subjects which I am sure the Australians will want to ask about, e.g. changes in Immigration Rules and new provisions about nationality, may not have been announced here at the time of my visit, though I can probably speak fairly helpfully to the Australians about them. Would it be possible, if our High Commission are involved in any of the discussions, for me to have a private talk with them at which I could indicate the line I propose to take on the questions I expect the Australians to put to me? This would seem to me an easier and more flexible way of dealing with briefing than sending out to Canberra classified briefs, some of which would need to be fairly guarded and perhaps in not very informative terms.
