Lord Shawcross has addressed a further letter to the Prime Minister about the problem of the Vietnamese refugees, in reply to the Prime Minister's letter to him of 12 July (copy enclosed for ease of reference).

I think that it would be sufficient for the Prime Minister to send Lord Shawcross a very brief response to his latest comments: I should be grateful if you would let me have a draft by close of play on Wednesday 25 July, which could take account of the conclusions of the Geneva meeting on 20/21 July.

I am sending a copy of this letter and enclosures to Tony Butler (Home Office).
