in Singapore and on the Norse Viking and the Ashford, amounts

about 4,500 (the great majority from Vietnam).

From Latin America

4. Since 1974 (the fall of the Allende Government in Chile) about

3,000 refugees have been accepted for settlement from Latin America

(principally from Chile) - as indicated in the following table:

5. In recent years, other groups in distress have also been accepted.

These include the Ugandan Asians in 1972-73 (about 29,000) and the

Cypriots in 1974 (about 9,000).

6. Most of the refugees from the Sibonga have now arrived in the

UK Ca few have been delayed because of illness). The first of the

refugees from the Roach Bank started arriving towards the end of June. (Their travel arrangements are still being made by the Inter-Governmental

Committee for European Migration (ICEM) who act for UNHCR In the

transport of refugees).
