C Mr Alastair Goodlad (Northwich): To ask the Lord Privy Seal, how many Indo-Chinese refugees are now estimated to be in Hong Kong; and how many have been accepted for permanent re-settlement.

MR PETER BLAKER

On 3 July there were 59,718 Vietnamese refugees in Hong Kong awaiting resettlement elsewhere. In addition, 11,000 Vietnamese, 2,100 Cambodians and 1,200 Laotians' have been accepted for permanent settlement in the terri- tory since 1975.
