C Mr Alastair Goodlad (Northwich): To ask the Lord Privy Seal, who many Indo-Chinese refugees are now estimated to be in Hong Kong; and how many have been accepted for permanent re-settlement.

On 3 July there were 59,718 Vietnamese refugees in Hong Kong

awaiting resettlement elsewhere. In addition, 11,000 Vietnamese,

2,100 Cambodians and 1,200 Laotians have been accepted for

permanent settlement in the territory since 1975.
