INDO-CHINESE REFUGEES AND DISPLACED PERSONS
During the first two weeks of June, some 26,800 'boat people' arrived in countries of first asylum in South East Asia. The largest numbers arrived in Hong Kong (12,230), Indonesia (10,062), Malaysia (3,743) and Thailand (525). The refugee camp population in South East Asia at present is made up of 147,000 'boat people' and 160,000 who arrived overland.
REFUGEE DEVELOPMENTS IN AFRICA
A UNHCR mission is completing its assessment of the conditions and needs of returning Ugandan refugees and of displaced persons in Uganda. This initiative follows the Secretary General's request for UNHCR emergency assistance to Uganda made earlier
this month.
At the request of the Patriotic Front, Zimbabwe African People's Union (PF/ZAPU), UNHCR is procuring six trucks and five other vehicles for the transport of essential goods needed by Zimbabwean refugees in Zambia. There are an estimated 46,000 Zimbabwean refugees in Zambia, of whom about 25,000, mainly women and children, receive UNHCR assistance.

Refugees from the Ogaden region in Ethiopia continued arriving in Somalia. to official figures, there are now 220,000 persons registered in the twenty-one refugee camps in Somalia.
NICARAGUAN REFUGEES IN HONDURAS
The influx of Nicaraguan refugees in Honduras continued during the last few weeks. Over 17,000 persons are in need of assistance. Following a request from the Honduran government, UNHCR is increasing its aid for food supplies from $150,000 to $ 600,000; an additional $ 230,000 are being provided for sanitation, education and administrative purposes. As many of the newly-arrived refugees as possible are being moved to the Yusugure camp in southern Honduras, and UNHCR will build a new camp in the near future to accommodate the rest.
CONTRIBUTIONS TO UNHCR PROGRAMMES
The Government of the United States of America has pledged # 8,775,000 for UNHCR General Programmes in Africa.
The European Economic Community has made available a sum of $5.3 million to UNHCR for assistance to refugees in South East Asia. The EEC donated $ 1.3 million for the same purpose earlier this year.
The Government of Sweden made a donation of 200 tons of food, valued at $ 192,000, for refugees in Djibouti.
The Swedish voluntary agency 'Hädda Barnen' announced two new contrilutions: $975,000 for refugee children in Malaysia, and $ 100,000 for refugees returning to Burma.
