Counsellor Sun of the Korean Embassy telephoned shortly before lunch on 20 June to pass on the latest procrastination from Taiwan. The Taiwanese authorities will only permit the disembarkation of the refugees on the Roachbank when they have received a note or official document from the British Government specifying an exact date by which the refugees would be taken away from Taiwan for their other destination. response to a question Counsellor Sun said that he read the terms of this stipulation to mean that Taiwan would be prepared to accept further written communications from the Koreans recording their view of British assurances.

The Taiwanese also wished to repeat that as all the refugees without exception had asked to be sent to Britain or some country other than Taiwan, Taiwan would not be able to accept any of them.
