VISIT BY THE PRIME MINISTER TO AUSTRALIA

1. The Prime Minister has decided to visit Canberra on 30 June/1 July immediately after the Tokyo summit. I should be grateful if recipients of this minute would let Mr Noble (4296) or Mr Upton (4956) have suggestions by close of play today please for the briefing (positively or defensively) and/or in the draft "objectives" letter which the PUS will send to Sir J Hunt. Nil returns are not required.

2. I attach a list of subjects on which briefing may be needed as SPD see it.
