WHAT ACTION HAVE YOU TAKEN WITH THE PHILIPPINE AUTHORITIES AND THE UNITED NATIONS HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR REFUGEES TO ENSURE THE VESSEL DOES NOT SAIL FOR HONG KONG?
2. Her Majesty's Ambassador in Manila has been in very close
touch with the Philippines Government on the matter and has
in particular expressed the special concern of the Hong Kong
Government which is already coping with considerable numbers
of "boat refugees". Similarly the United Kingdom Permanent
Representative in Geneva is maintaining very close contact
with the High Commissioner for Refugees and the latter is
also in touch with the Philippines Government on this
matter.
