Mr. Kenneth Clarke asked the Sec- etary of State for Foreign and Common- wealth Affairs how many Vietnamese refugees are at the moment accepted as temporary residents in Hong Kong and awaiting resettlement elsewhere.

Mr. Luard: On 21 January 1979 there were 9,670 people from Vietnam wishing to be resettled from Hong Kong. This figure includes those who arrived board the Huey Fong.

Another has just started work in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, dealing with Hong Kong affairs. Many others come here on
