The House debated the problem of Indo-Chinese refugees on 15 December.

As my honourable Friend, the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary stated in replies to questions on 16 and 17 January, the Government fully support the Hong Kong Government's generous and humane attitude towards refugees from Vietnam.

3.

The Government sympathise with the plight of the refugees on board the Huey Fong, now anchored just outside Hong Kong waters, but the ship poses a particularly serious problem for the Hong Kong Government. Efforts are still being made to persuade the master to sail for his original destination in Taiwan. In the meantime, a further five days' supply of food and water were delivered to the ship on 17 January:
