A BILL

To

Amend the Shipping and Port Control Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Shipping and Port Control Short title. (Amendment) (No. 2) Ordinance 1979.

2. Section 2 of the principal Ordinance is amended in the definition Amendment of of "authorized officer" by deleting "Station" in paragraph (b).

3. Section 59(2) of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting Amendment of "Station".

Explanatory Memorandum

This Bill extends various powers of enforcement in the principal Ordinance to police officers of or above the rank of Sergeant, by altering the definition of "authorized officer" in section 2 of the Ordinance. At

present, these powers are vested in police officers of or above the rank of Station Sergeant only.

The Bill has no financial or staffing implications.

本法案更改原有條例第二條內「獲授權人員」一詞之定義,以便將該條例之各 項執法權力授予警長級及以上之警務人員。目前,此等權力只授予警署警長級及以 上之警務人員。
