Amend the Merchant Shipping Ordinance.

advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.
Short title.
Amendment of section 34.
(Cap. 281.)
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Merchant
Shipping (Amendment) Ordinance 1979.
2. Section 34 of the principal Ordinance is
amended

(a) in subsection (1), by deleting "be liable
on conviction to imprisonment for 6 months
and to a fine of $10,000 and an additional fine
of $5,000 for each passenger in excess of the
number allowed by the passenger
and substituting the following
certificate"
"be liable
(a)
on conviction upon indictment
to imprisonment for 4 years and
to a fine of $10,000 and an
additional fine of $5,000 for
each passenger in excess of the
number allowed by the passenger
certificate; and
