It was not possible to analyse the Company's May submission in time to clear it through the consultative process to the Legislative Council in the 1978 - 79 Session i. e. by August. It will therefore be necessary to submit these proposals to the Legislative Council in mid- October, and the proposed effective date for the fare revision would be 1st November 1979.
Franchised services

The proposed fare increases at'Annex D include both fares for franchised services (which are set out in the Schedule to the Hong Kong & Yaumati Ferry Company (Services) Crdinance (Chapter 266)), and for services licensed or excluded from licensing under the Ferries Crdinance (Chapter 104). Under section 5 of the Hong Kong & Yaumati Ferry Company (Services) Ordinance the Schedule may be varied, with the consent of the Company, by resolution of the Legislative Council. A draft re solution E to effect the changes is at Annex E. The draft has been seen and
approved by the Company.
