MASS TRANSIT RAILWAY REGULATIONS 1979

Introduction

On 26th June 1979, after considering memorandum

XCC(79)63B, the Council advised and the Acting Governor ordered:

11 (a)

(b)

that the Mass Transit Railway Corporation (Amendment) Bill 1979, at Annex A of

memorandum XCC(79)63, should be introduced

into the Legislative Council subject to the amendments in paragraph 3(a) and the Annex of this memorandum; and

that the Mass Transit Railway Regulations 1979, at Annex B to XCC(79)63, should be approved in principle to be resubmitted to Members to be made after the bill has passed into law.

The Mass Transit Railway Corporation (Amendment) Bill 1979 was subsequently enacted by the Legislative Council on 18th July 1979 and the proposed regulations as annexed are accordingly now resubmitted to Members for their consideration.

Since the regulations were approved in principle, it has-been found necessary to make the following minor amendments to the Schedule of Notifiable Occurrences to the Regulations:

(a) Part I

It is proposed to add a new item as follows:

(f) suffers

injury, which is reported to the Corporation, as the result of any action

of an employee of the Corporation, or of

a contractor with the Corporation.

possible occurrence which is currently not

provided for in the regulations.

(b) Part II. Item 1

It is proposed to add 'including tyres unfit to run' at the end of this item.
