Additional, ex gratia, payments have also been offered (see
Background Note to my submission of 16 July) but a small group
of militant residents continues to press for an improved settle-
Ment. During a recent visit to London, representatives of the
group lobbied MPs in support of their case. The leader of the
delegation, Mrs Elsie Elliott, an elected Urban Councillor in
Hong Kong, wrote to the Prime Minister. The Questions put down
by Mr Newens, Mr Parry and Mr Canavan have clearly been stimulated
by the delegation's visit.
