Premier Hua Guofeng visited Britain from 28 October

to 3 November: His delegation included Vice Premier

Yu Qiuli, Foreign Minister Huang Hua, and 4 Vice Ministers.

2. Premier Hua's programme and the nature and level of

his reception, reflected the particular significance of

his visit, as the first visit to Britain by a Premier

of the People's Republic of China. I considered it

the. appropriate to involved myself deeply in/is visit, and had six-separate mootingo with Premier Hua ineluding two sessions of official talks (part of which were tete a tete) The delegation's programme also included lunch at Buckingham Palace and a tour of the State Rooms, and industrial and agricultural visits in London, Derby, Manchester and Oxford, as well as a number of major

cultural, social, and ceremonial occasions.

My discussions of international affairs with Premier Hua were wide ranging, and reached a wide measure of agreement on many issues. We exchanged views on relations with the Soviet Union, and on Soviet Union, and on Soviet
