CALL BY THE GOVERNOR OF HONG KONG

1.

Sir Murray Machehose will be cilli on the Minister of State at 1200 on Thursdu,, 14 June.

2.

I submit copies of the briefing material prepared for the Governor's meetings with the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State, together witn additional briefs on the Hong Kong economy and social development.

3. Mr Blaker will be attending the Governor's meeting with the Secretary of State this afternoon and will no doubt want to wait until after that meeting before deciding which subjects might most profitably be discussed when he sees Sir M MacLehose tomorrow. It would, however, be useful if he could devote some time to the problem of the New Territories leases. The background is compli- cated and the Minister of State may find it helpful to have a detailed explanation from the Governor.
