that the briefs for Mr. Blaker which you put in the bag on the day we spoke arrived here yesterday, the day after he left.

Thank you, though, for sending a spare set with David Ford. They reached me just in time to spend a typhoon morning, while Mr. Blaker was diverted to Taiwan, suggesting one or two changes.

The visit went extremely well. He made a good speech at the General Chamber of Commerce, based largely on his own notes, and gave a good impression as somebody who was concerned about and liked Hong Kong.
