Mr McLaren is still away sick today, but has asked me to let you know that he does hope to be able to visit Hong Kong next month. As you know, it has now become accepted practice for the Head of HKGD to visit Hong Kong twice a year, and it is now some six months since Mr McLaren last went. He would like, subject to your approval and PSD authority, to travel out immediately after Easter, and return on the weekend of 28/29 April ie a visit of just under two weeks.

He will be discussing in due course whether he might also pay a short visit to Peking on his way back.
