(c) Safe-hand Boxes
A suite of safe-hand boxes is being taken out on the RAF VC10 from RAF Brize Norton to Tokyo. These will be used by the three Royal Military Police in conjunction with the Embassy/High Commission to enable a safe-hand service to be carried out during the visit of the Secretary of State. The first safe-hand run will be required at 0700 hours each morning and a safe-hand service will be kept up throughout the day. A safe-hand car will also be on standby during the silent hours.
13. TRANSPORT
This is being handled by the Post being visited. All Posts have been authorised to hire if necessary. A full detail of transport arrangements has been requested from each Post being visited. will be handed to members of the party on arrival at Post.
14. ENTERTAINMENT, CLIMATE AND CLOTHING
(a) Entertainment as at present know, is shown at Appendix II.

(b) Liquor and cigarettes will be made available by the Embassy/High Commission on a repayment basis for official entertainment, including official Press briefing.
(c) The climate in all Posts in very hot during the day and a little cooler in the evenings. All Posts have advised Conference and Visits Section that members of the delegation should take with them "light- weight clothing. It may be wet in Delhi, if the monsoon (which is imminent) breaks. Black tie is not necessary in any Post.
(d) Personnel Services Department have granted a clothing allowance for lightweight suits for men and cotton dresses for ladies of £60 (this is for members of the party who will not have attended the Economic Summit in Tokyo). Members of the delegation are reminded that to claim this amount receipts must be produced.
15. GIFTS
Certain Posts have advised that gifts will be required during the visit. These are being arranged by Conference and Visits Section, Miss J Oldershaw (telephone number 233 7820) in liaison with political Departments and the Private Office and these gifts should be put on the aircraft leaving RAF Brize Norton on Wednesday 27 June at 1030 hours.
16. NEWSPAPERS AND COI BULLETINS
(a) Conference and Visits Section have asked the Newspaper Publishers Association to have daily British newspapers sent to the appropriate Post.
(b) The selected daily COI bulletin will also be telexed to the appropriate Post. This will be circulated to the delegation as quickly as possible on its receipt.
