GOVERNOR'S VISIT TO CHINA

You may be interested to have for the record copies of the letter (in English and Chinese) sent by Li Qiang, the Chinese Minister of Foreign Trade, inviting the Governor to visit China. That a Minister in Peking should write to the Governor, addressing him by his title, must certainly rate as another first.

I am also enclosing a copy of the Governor's reply which I handed over to the NCNA today as we were both, coincidentally, meeting Li Qiang on his way through Hong Kong for a visit to Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
