However, there are likely to be considerable environmental difficulties because of the greatly increased air pollution that would be brought about thereby. There would also be problems related to site formation, to the provision of an additional transmission line, and to the disposal of ash. As utilities supplying Hong Kong get land on concessionary public utility terms, use of station 'B' for a power station to supply China would involve CLP in the payment of an additional premium of at least $400 million and stamp duty.
