DEFENCE SALES TO CHINA: COCOM
1.
Ministers will be considering on eleventh June
the papers prepared by officials on defence sales policy
to China. And how these sales should be processed through
COCOM.
HARRIER
2.
Commercial negotiations for the supply of Harrier to
China are unlikely yo be completed before the autumn
at the earliest.
VISIT BY PREMIER HUA GUOFENG
3. The Embassy in Peking have been instructed to
issue an invitation from the Prime Minister to Premier
Hua to pay an official visit to Britain from thirtieth
October to third November (the dates proposed by the
Chinese). The Chinese have not yet responded and we
believe they may wish to avoid formal confirmation of
the visit for the time being.
