Capital Punishment
29. Mr. Peter Robinson asked the Sec- retary of State for Northern Ireland if he will recommend the reintroduction of capital punishment for terrorist crimes in Northern Ireland in view of the rising campaign of Irish Republican Army activity in Northern Ireland.
Mr. Humphrey Atkins: The Govern- ment are committed to a free vote in this House on the issue of capital punishment for murder. This will relate to the United Kingdom as a whole, and not only to Northern Ireland.
