We are still seeking nominations for a businessman (from the West India Committee) and a Tory Parliamentarian.

The official side will be represented by Mr Stratton and one member each from HKGD, WIAD, Research Department and ODA (hopefully Mr Kirkness or another finance expert, who could fill the role of Treasury hatchet man).

5. This gives a total of 24, and we could also accommodate

a really worthwhile candidate from a dependency, who is visiting the UK at the time.

Programme

6. Present intention is to arrive at IDS on Monday 24 September in time for dinner at 7pm, to be followed by a short opening address on present policy and a brief discussion.

Tuesday would be devoted to sessions on the various topics say two each in the morning and afternoon, and one after dinner. A final round up could be held on Wednesday morning, after which lunch would be available if required.

The outline programme for the recent ASEAN Seminar is attached, Mr Middleton considered that the free time left after dinner was wasted - sessions should start at 9am and finish by 9.30pm; reasonable drinking time should be allowed.
