DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS

In her letter (HKA 431/4) of 28 October 1977 to Howard Davis, Mrs Gregory said that you were considering amending the salary level laid down in Colonial Regulation 57 (ii) for grades of officer in respect of whom cases of dismissal must be handled under Regulation 59.

2.

We have heard no more from the Department.

However,

0217/1

a recent case in which we had to invoke the full procedure under Regulation 59 in respect of a nursing auxiliary has led us to conclude that the time has come to change the definition of officers whose cases must be handled under Regulation 59 from the salary level of £1,000 at present specified in Regulation 57 (ii). We should be grateful for your authority to amend Regulation 57 (ii) so far as Gibraltar is concerned, to provide that only dismissal proceedings in respect of officers in grades 1 to 8 in the Gibraltar Govern- ment Service are to be handled in accordance with the proce- dure laid down in Regulation 59 (i) to (vii). I enclose a list of the posts in grades 1 to 8, together with the present salary levels. They are the same posts as were previously designated as grades 1 to 9, before the 1978 Staff Inspection: cf para 6 of Alan Collings's letter to Miss Daw of 22 April 1977.
