Mr Hunt was born on 29 June 1926 and educated at St Peter's Hall
where
Oxford,
Mhere he read law. He served in the RAF from 1944-48
From 150-51 he was employed as a teacher at Durston House Prep. School and Oakham School, Rutland.
In 1952 he joined IIMOCS and was appointed as an Administra- tive Cadet in Uganda. After service as District Officer and Acting District Commissioner, he became Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources in 1960. From 1962 until his retirement he served as a District Commissioner.
He joined the FCO in 1963 and served in the Commonwealth
Relations Office and subsequently as First Secretary in Kuching
then Jesselton and then in Brunei. In all of these three
posts he was on his own. In Ankara from 1968-70 he was First
Secretary (Economic) and in Jakarta from1970-72 he was Head of
Chancery.
From 1972-74 he served in the FCO again as
Assistant Head of Middle East Department before going out to
Saigon in 1974 on promotion to Counsellor. He was evacuated
to Singapore in 1975 at the time of the fall of Saigon. Since
1976 he has been in Kuala Lumpur as Counsellor (Commercial) and
Deputy High Commissioner.
He is married with one daughter and one son, the youngest of
whom is 15.
As well as his HMOCS experience Mr Hunt as a good all round
record in the DS.
He is a pragmatist rather than a deep
