Leaving aside Hong Kong, the two territories where we expect there to be vacancies at Governor level this year are the
The Falklands post will need to be filled Falklands and Belize. in December when Mr Parker reaches 60 and the end of his term as Governor. (Mr Parker has dropped hints that he might like to stay on for a further year but I assume there is no question of that.) Belize may become vacant in September or December this year or in June 1980, depending on which of the options put to him in the Deputy Chief Clerk's letter of 5 January Mr McEntee decides to take.

The Falklands and Belize jobs both have a strong political content and I doubt whether we will have any suitable HMOCS candidates to suggest (though I would want to consult Hong Kong, the only possible source of HMOCS people at this level). I should be grateful if you would confirm that you will be proposing
