A w9 1. I understand that the PUS has not yet received a reply to his
letter of 5 February to the Governor of Bermuda about the Deputy
B 9 Governor post. In his minute of 19 February Mr Posnett reported
that Sir P Ramsbotham had concluded that it would be too risky to appoint Mr Wallace to succeed Mr Lloyd. I have no reason to question
Mr Posnett's report, but we do need the Governor's own views. 2. Whatever is decided about the eventual successor, we need
His
to regularise Mr Lloyd's position as Deputy Governor. term of office is due to expire next month and the extension for a further year which has been agreed in principle by the PUS ought to be put to the DTSAB (by means of a paper board) within the next two weeks. We also have an obligation to say something to Mr Wallace fairly soon.
3.
It would therefore be helpful if you would send Sir P Ramsbotham a reminder. I attach a draft telegram
