DESCRIPTION

Assembles, installs and maintains pipes, fittings and fixtures for supplying air, gas, steam, water and other fluids.

TRADE SKILLS

Ability to

1. Correctly use and maintain the tools of

the trade including measuring instruments, hand and machine tools.

2.

Install and maintain piping systems and associated accessories according to specifications.

3. Operate and maintain pumping, extraction and boiler systems, air conditioning and refrigeration plant.

4. Perform hydraulic tests according to

standards and specifications.

5.

Detect and rectify leaks in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

6.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic circuit diagrams and specifications.

7.

Observe safety precautions and health

measures.

TRADE THEORY

1.

Knowledge of :-

Workshop technology including machine and hand tools, measuring instruments, properties and heat treatment of materials.

2. Engineering science and calculations

including hydraulic, fluid flow systems.
