TRADE SKILLS :

Joins, cuts and deposits metals by electric- arc or flame of oxy-acetylene or other gases, or by other welding and brazing processes.

Ability to :

1. Correctly use and maintain the tools of the trade including hand and machine welding equipment.

2.

Perform simple and complex welding of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys to specifications using gases and electric

arc.

3. Perform oxy-cutting by hand or by machines.

4.

Pre-heat and post-heat work pieces to prevent distortion and stress.

5. Read and interpret engineering drawings

and specifications.

6.

Observe safety precautions and health

measures.

TRADE THEORY

Knowledge of :-

1. Workshop technology including electric

arc and gas welding, hand and machine tools, measuring instrument, properties and heat treatment of ferrous and non- ferrous metals and alloys.

2. Engineering science and calculations.

3. Engineering drawing and sketching.

4. Basic electricity related to electric

welding equipment.
