You raised in your letter the question of using ACAS to settle the dispute. I understand that ACAS officials do not act as conciliators outside Great Britain though ACAS would be prepared to suggest a list of independent arbitrators or mediators who could be called upon to act within the framework of the full machinery when it is in operation.
Tom Pendry accompanied the two young ladies when they called on me and I have promised to let him know the result of my efforts. I will, of course, let you know too.
