MEMORANDUM FOR EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

CIVIL SERVICE PAY INCREASE 1978

In accordance with the approved policy and

practice, it is proposed to invite Finance Committee to consider a pay increase for the Civil Service with effect from 1st April 1978 ranging from 10.34% for the lowest paid (apprentices) to 5.11% for the highest paid officers. This represents an overall increase in expenditure on Civil Service salaries of approximately 8%. A copy of a draft Finance Committee agenda item is annexed.

(The Secretary for the Civil Service (Mr Martin ROWLANDS) and the Principal Assistant Secretary (Civil Service) (Mr D.H, MACE) will attend before the Council for the discussion of this item).
