From the period of August 1976 until the present, numerous meetings were held with the Official Side of the Government. Typist Unit has no far, dutifully and sincerely, presented recommendations
The Shorthand/Audio for improving the salary scale and to alleviate the existing hardshi ̧, to
ift up the morale and efficiency of the Shorthand/Audio Typist grade. Secretary for the Civil Service has ignored all our previous efforts in making up a reasonable renuncration; no constructive nor solid reply have ever been received.

That your petitioners hereby request the kind attention of your Excellency the Governor of Hong Kong; that your Excellency will exercise your justice and implement immediately the following proposals so as to alleviate the hardship of the Shorthand/Audio Typist gredo :-
FROPOSALS
That a true meaningful and reasonable carcer salary ranging from $1,210 to $2,440 should be applied to Shorthand/Audio Typist grade.
(B) Tt promotion prospect should be enlarged to Shorthand/Audio
Typists whilst until the present the Shorthan/Audio Typist grade has been suffering from no promotion prospect together with the worst adv.ncement outlet as other grades in the Civil Service having the same and similar academic qualificu- tions enjoy far better.
(c) That your attention is drawn to our request that our benefits
arising from our proposing salary should be backdated from 1st April 1976.
Your petitioners and the whole of the Shorthand/Audio Typist grade humbly pray that your cellency in Council will take such necessary steps to ensure that the salary scale of the Shorthand/Audio Typists is brought into line with officers of other grades having comparable duties, same or similar academic qualifications. Your petitioners and the whole of the Shorthand/Audio Typist grade remain at your service at all times.
