Vacancies for Stenographer
I should be grateful if you would draw the attention of your female staff to the above vacancies which will be advertised in the South China Morning Post, Sing Pao Daily News and Sing Tao Wan Fao on Saturday 18.12.76..

Qualifications
Candidates should :
(a) be over 18 years of age;
(b) have 3 subjects.-English Language (Syllabus B), Chinese Language and Mathematics at Grade E or above in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination; or equivalent; and
(c) have minimum shorthand and typing speeds of 80 w.p.m. and
50 w.p.m. per minute respectively. (Candidates will be required to take entrance tests.)
Serving Senior Typists and Typists who do not have the
academic qualifications stipulated may also apply provided that they :
(a) have at least three years' Government service as typists;
(b) have minimum shorthand and typing speeds of 80 and 50 words per minute respectively (candidates will be required to take entrance test); and
(c) pass a competitive in-service examination in English,
Chinese and Arithmetic; and an interview;
may be considered for appointment to Stenographer.

Terms of appointment
(a) An officer confirmed to the permanent and pensionable
establishment will be appointed on trial for one year. On satisfactory completion of their trial period, she would be confirmed in her new post. If not confirmed to her new post, she would revert to her former office. (b) An officer serving on probation or on temporary month- to-month terms will be appointed on probation for
2 years.
On satisfactory completion of the probationary period, she would be confirmed to the permanent and pensionable establishment. If not confirmed to her new post, she would have her services terminated unless there is a suitable post to which she can transfer.
