(5) have either a 2-year Ordinary Diploma in Executive Secretarial Studies from the Hong Kong Polytechnic or three years' approved experience in a secretarial capacity; and,

(6) are able to pass stringent entry tests

and an interview;

for Senior Personal Secretary,

(iii) Senior Personal Secretary should for posts

in the general field remain a promotion post for Personal Secretaries after five years' very good service in the rank of Personal Secretary;

(iv) for certain designated posts entry to the

rank should be by direct appointment of overseas officers. Direct entrants should meet the following criteria,

(1) have completed secondary education

referably with a pass in five subjects vikingdom General Certificate of Education

at the Ordinary Level of the United

Examination;

(2) have shorthand and typing speeds of 110 w.p.m.

and 50 w.p.m. respectively; and,

(3) have at least five years' experience in`a

private secretarial capacity;

in respect of duties, both Senior Personal Secretaries and Personal Secretaries should provide a full secretarial service for their principals;

in respect of pay scales,

for Personal Secretary,

(i) the pay scale for Personal. Secretary should

begin at Point 15 (31,735), i.e. one increment higher than the maximum of Stenographer, to recognize the promotion step. This will be three increments higher than the present minimum; this is considered to be justified because of the higher educational and higher shorthand speed requirements on entry; and,

(ii) the maximun should be extended, Point 23

($2,720), which is equivalent to one increment above the minimum of the present Rank I of the grade, which will no longer exist. This will give a nine point career
