61. On 17th June, 1977 all members of the group were arrested. They were Chinese males TUNG Kam-hon (5516/6855/3352), WONG Fei-hung (7806/7378/7160), CHAN Ming-fai (7115/2494/ 6540) and LAM Wah (2651/5478). LAM, a cobbler, was found to have in his possession the shoes purchased by the Narcotics Bureau officers, and additionally two other pairs of shoes, exact replicas of the original pairs, except that the bodies of the shoes had been hollowed out to allow for the insertion of heroin. All the arrested persons were jointly charged with Conspiracy to Traffic in Dangerous Drugs and committal proceedings commenced in August, 1977.

Cannabis and its derivatives 62.
On 18th January, 1977, a Japanese male, Yukio HIRASAWA, arrived at Hong Kong Airport from Bangkok. During a routine examination of his baggage, 0.565 kilogramme of cannabis resin was found concealed in a bongo drum. HIRASAWA was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment.
(PS/109/3/77) 63. On 24th March, 1977, a New Zealand male, Ross Trevor MORRIS arrived at Hong Kong Airport from Bangkok. A search of his baggage resulted in the seizure of 5.31 kilogrammes of cannabis concealed inside toys, parcels and liquor boxes within his two suitcases. MORRIS was arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. He was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.

64.
In the early hours of 17th May, 1977, a party of uniformed-branch officers from Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station conducted a raid on a residential flat in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. A search of the premises resulted in the seizure of 12 sticks of cannabis comprising 16.7 grammes. A Chinese male, CHAN Hon-muk (7115/3352/3092), his wife LAI Tak-lan (6351/1795/5695) and his mother Yung Yuk (5040/3768) were arrested and jointly charged with Possession of a Dangerous Drug for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking. CHAN was found guilty as charged and fined $2,000. His wife was found guilty of the lesser of charge of 'Possession of Dangerous Drugs' and also fined $2,000. No evidence was offered against the mother YUNG Yuk.
