3.9319 kilogrammes of No. 3 heroin, 2.4 litres of acetic anhydride and a quantity of paraphenalia used for manufacture and packaging of heroin was seized.
heroin. A deal was set up to buy five pounds of heroin for $120,000-HK. The transaction took place and Narcotics Bureau arrested four Chinese males as follows:-

61 Chemical analysis revealed the alleged heroin to be caffeine sprayed with vinegar and covered by sour fruit (to disguise the smell).

(c) 'Attempting to Obtain Property by Deception' (d) 'Offering to Traffic in Dangerous Drugs'

64 On 25th August, 1977, action was mounted by Narcotics Bureau against the last remaining es- tablished large narcotics syndicate - the culmination of several years of investigation and preparation of evidence by the Narcotics Bureau. Up until 1973, this syndicate, headed by Ma Sik-yu (7456/1917/ 1172) and assisted by his brother MA Sik-chun (7456/1917/3791), was a major importer of bulk narcotics - opium and morphine. Police pressure then disrupted the syndicate's established opera- tions, although individual members are believed to have continued to traffic in small quantities.
