Permitting' (premises to be used as a store for dangerous drugs). No was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment. MA was acquitted of both charges.

45 On 17th July, 1977, Narcotics Bureau Officers ambushed a private car parked at the Hang Lung car park, 1112 Canton Road, Hong Kong. A Chinese male YEUNG Kwong-to (2799/1684/3325) was arrested when opening the car. Inside the dash-board 0.207 kilogramme of No. 3 heroin was found. Meanwhile a party of Customs and Excise Officers had arrested YEUNG's accomplice CHUNG Chi- cheung (6945/1807/4385) nearby. YEUNG and CHUNG were charged with 'Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking'. YEUNG was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment while CHUNG received a 31⁄2 year sentence. A feature of the case was the low purity of the heroin seized (8% pure).

46 On 18th August, 1977, following an extensive surveillance operation, Customs and Excise Officers raided premises in Waterloo Road, Yau Ma Tei. 0.9905 kilogramme of prepared opium and a quantity of smoking paraphernalia was seized. A Chinese female LEE Yuk-lam (2621/3768/5695) was arrested and charged with three counts of 'Possession of Dangerous Drugs for the Purpose of Unlawful Trafficking', and on each count she was sentenced to 31 years imprisonment.
