On 20 January 1978, following an intensive search of the engine room of mv. Tai Chung Shan, Customs and Excise officers discovered 0.7202 kilos of No 4 heroin, 0.8462 kilos of No 3 heroin and 1.8864 kilos of prepared opium. The drugs were packed in sixteen packages and hidden in four separate caches within the engine room. No arrest was made.

Heroin and opium were concealed in the engine room of the 'Tai Chung Shan'.

2 On 22 January 1978, Customs and Excise officers searched baggage arriving in Hong Kong aboard Thai International Airline flight No TG 610. They were acting upon information passed on by the Royal Hong Kong Marine Police. As a result an abandoned suitcase containing 17.9519 kilos of No 3 heroin (4.7664 kilos purity) was seized. No arrest was made.
