22 year's service from Cadet to Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Engineers

EXPERIENCE

Management:

Commanding Officer RE Depot (aged 40) for 2 years responsible for 900 soldiers and 1000 civilians. Duties involved overall executive and organisational responsibilities including military training, career planning postings, welfare and liaison with Trade Unions.

A total of 11 years in command of Units, including 3 in Malaysian Engineers building 30 miles of road and 1 air strip.

Planning:

Staff Officer (aged 39) in Operational Requirements Branch of HQ British Army of the Rhine responsible for entry into service and in service modifications of new engineer equipment and mechanical transport.

Divisional Engineer Intelligence Officer (aged 31) in Germany responsible for war planning and engineer tasking.

Administration:

Regimental Second-in-Command (aged 38) for 2 years responsible for staff of 80 dealing with administration and military training of 500 soldiers including supervision of accounts and equipment maintenance. During this tour the unit converted to infantry for a 4 month tour in Ulster.

GENERAL

I have spent 12 years of my service abroad and have been stationed in Germany, Malaysia (including Borneo) Singapore. I have passed the Army colloquial test in German and Malay. My hobbies include sailing, tennis, squash, travelling and current affairs.
