have served the Crown, bound by the Laws of Britain, we ask for only one simple thing. If there is evidence enough to put us on trial for corruptly protecting this syndicate, PUT US ON TRIAL, If any of us are guilty, let them be jailed, for those who are acquitted, we will be seen to be innocent. Syndicated corruption has reared its ugly head in the U.K. most notoriously so in the Porn Squad of the Metropolitan Police. They were dealt with by the courts and sent down for heavy terms. Why should there be a different standard for another part of Her. Majesties': dominions?

-

There are many irregularities that surround the case. The "account books" of the drug syndicate which are said to name us have been declared inadmissable evidence in the court case against 23 officers who have been charged with overt acts of corruption in the syndicate case. Yet, as far as we know and it must be emphasised, we have never been told of any charge against us, neither have we seen these "account books" nor have we been able to rebut any of this 'evidence', nor have been legally represented at any of the proceedings of the Star Chamber that dismissed us these account books still form the basis on which we have been thrown out.

-

Another fact which must be considered is that no officers above Inspector have been dealt with in our case. The relevations of Chief Supt. Peter Godber and Supt. 'Taffy' Hunt have proved that syndicated corruption on any large scale- and surely when 118 officers are dismissed under CR 55 it is large scale cannot exist without the active connivance of senior officers, some of them, inévitably Europeans. Have we been swept away under the carpet of CR 55 because we are junior officers, Chinese and therefore neglible and powerless?

-

We are not seeking re-instatement. We are asking for the lifting of CR 55 against us as a whole, for the cases to be examined individually and those with evidence of corruption put on trial. For the rest of us, lift the unjust blacklist that stops us getting jobs and applying for emmigration.

Honoured Sir, may we meet with you during our brief stay in U.K.? We want to explain our case more fully and back it up with documents we have brought with us. Within our ranks we have officers who have served between 3 and 32 years enforcing British Law in Hong Kong. Is it too much to ask that the same principles should apply to us too?

If you could reply by letter or telephone to our requests, we will make every effort to meet any appointment you make.

Yours faithfully,
