2. Mr Miller, who served in the Hong Kong Government Service from 1955 to 1968, takes a close interest in Hong Kong affairs. He tabled four questions on Hong Kong last year, on education, the New Territories Council and British policy towards the territory. He is normally sympathetic towards the Hong Kong Government. present question, about the recent compulsory retirements from the Royal Hong Kong Police Force, may reflect the anxiety of members of the public service in Hong Kong over the way in which these retirements were effected, by means of the little used Colonial Regulation 55. Under this Regulation, public servants may be dismissed without the reasons for their dismissal being
revealed.
